Issues come in waves while I’m seeing clients.
Perhaps it’s what’s “going around”, like local doctors will report with the stomach bug or strep throat.
Maybe it’s partly my fault; it’s what I need to be reminded of on my own journey back to wholeness and holiness at that moment.
It could be the alignment of the stars and planets, the phase of the moon, the season…
In any case, it happens. And lately it’s been this:
A slight case of Being the Victim. Like Doc McStuffins might write in her Big Book of Boo Boos, I’m seeing people with IHaveToDoEverythingitis.
Do you have it? Here are the symptoms:
- Feeling like you have to do everything at work / at home / in your relationship / in your family.
- Focusing on other people’s needs 24/7, or even 14/4 (in other words – Most of the time).
- Resentment.
- Exhaustion.
- Stress.
Happily, there is a cure! There are actually many cures! What I have been prescribing most often involves at least these two medicines:
1. Let in this thought : “I deserve to be taken care of – by others, and MYSELF”.
This one is big if you grew up caring for siblings or caring for a parent, physically or emotionally. Let it run on a loop in your mind. Extra fast healing can come from also clearing the negative thought – “I don’t deserve to be taken care of.” The energy psychology techniques that I use are one way to clear an old, useless belief.
2. Eliminate “have to” and “should” from your vocabulary.
Seriously. They are not true and not necessary. You don’t “have to” do the laundry, say. You could wear dirty clothes, buy new clothes or move to a nudist colony. You are choosing to do the laundry. You are making all of your own decisions. Small shift, big reward.
May we all be well.
This is WONDERFUL Lili! Thanks for continuing to put so much good into the world!
